RM of Leroy’s story
The Rural Municipality of Leroy No. 339 was first incorporated on January 1, 1913, under the name RM of Roach No. 339. The name did not stay for long: on March 14, 1914, it became the RM of Ayr No. 339.
The municipality took the name it carries today, Leroy, on February 27, 1931. The town of Leroy lies within its boundaries and is home to the RM office, and the localities of Romance, Shady Grove and Sinnett are also found within the municipality.
A Canadian Pacific Railway branch line between Lanigan and Naicam runs through the area, serving Sinnett, Leroy and Romance along with nearby points such as Watson, Daphne and Spalding. Highway 761 crosses the RM east and west, and Highway 667 runs north and south through it.
